Community

Our goal is to help people of all ages and abilities, improve their quality of life and reach their personal potential through physical activity and healthy living. Evidence shows that physical activity helps to reduce your chances of conditions such as cancers (colon & breast), depression, heart disease, type II diabetes and dementia. We work in all community settings to give the same opportunities to everyone.

Disability Sport/Physical Activity

We are inclusive in all our sessions, but over the years we’ve been asked to run specific disability sessions by adults with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities. Research shows that most of the barriers stopping people with a disability from being more physically active, are related to their own confidence or the way others act towards them. Our sessions provide a safe environment for adults and children with disabilities to improve their skills, health and confidence.

Training

We deliver training and events to staff based in the community, to be confident empowering the people they work with to make healthier lifestyle choices. We are also able to deliver sessions that look at staff health and wellbeing and the impact this has on the workplace. The Work Foundation reports that for every £1 invested in wellbeing initiatives, businesses get a return of £3. Investing in staff health and wellbeing not only makes a happier workplace but saves money too!

“We can see an improvement in all the people who have been attending the Fit-tastic sessions. There is an improvement in their mental health as well as in their physical skills.”
Staff member, Hall Lane Resource Centre, Baguley.

Health and Wellbeing Workshops

An active and healthy lifestyle can improve the physical and mental wellbeing of everybody. Through fun and practical workshops we help people of all ages to explore the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle, and break down some of the everyday barriers that stop them achieving the healthier life they would like to lead.

Sport And Physical Activities

From hula hooping in libraries, to boxercise for people who are homeless, we work right across the community. We can deliver one off sessions such as at festivals or fun days, or regular physical activity sessions for organisations such health clubs or housing groups. Tailored to the needs of the community, these sessions are about having fun, trying something new, increasing confidence and improving physical and mental health

Ante & Post Natal Sessions

We support new mums and mums-to-be to exercise safely through the physiotherapist led FitBack & Bumps programme. Sessions can be run as part of a group or on a one to one basis and aim to:
• Reduce some of the aches and pains that pregnancy can cause
• Help women make new friends and share pregnancy experiences
• Reduce stress incontinence
• Teach women how to flatten their stomach after pregnancy

“I found all the information very helpful and I now know some exercise that I can do at home to help my pelvic floor and get my tummy back in shape! It was presented in a clear and informative way.”
New mum, Northern Moor.
