Wythenshawe Games

The Wythenshawe Games was a community sports festival which aimed to capture the momentum of London 2012 and get local residents involved in sport and physical activity. Events included everything from wii boxing to cycling and around 9000 people took part in the 9 day event.

One of the highlights of the festival was when children got to meet Olympic legend Linford Christie who won the 100m gold medal in Barcelona in 1992. Some lucky children even got to race with the Olympic hero!

Fit-tastic were instrumental in the inclusion and planning of a special event for under 5’s which saw over 500 children under the age of 5 take part. It was great to see so many young children and their families take part in so many different activities including football, BMX biking, fun races and mini disco.

Overall the event was a great success and organisers hope that Wythenshawe residents will have been inspired to be more active and continue taking part in sport long term.
